I don't recommend doing an engagement session if the weather is too hot, cold or of course rainy. There's really no reason for it. I tell my couples that the beauty of an engagement session is that (unlike your wedding day) you can reschedule it for a nicer day.
So, I was a little apprehensive when Gabrielle and Buddy wanted to follow through with their scheduled date on a sunny but chilly 35 degree day.
Just to be clear: I'm fine with shooting in cold weather because I have a coat and warm clothes on. Looking fashionable is not a concern for me on a cold day but of course it is for my couples! Wearing a coat makes you look bulky so for the most part, we want images without the coats. And on a 35 degree day, that can get uncomfortable and really make it difficult to be romantic and loving.
Nevertheless, Gabi and Buddy hung in there and did a nice job of fighting off the cold. We had an awesome time, made some great images and went out for drinks at the Lambertville Station Restaurant afterwards. If you're in the area, I recommend stopping by this restored train station for dinner and drinks!
Many thanks to Gabi and Buddy for a super fun session.
Here are some favorites from their Lambertville NJ engagement photoshoot beautifully captured by Ralph Deal Photography.
