WELCOME TO RALPH DEAL PHOTOGRAPHY
We’re passionate observers of love and connection, in search of moments both big and small. And, we love a great story!
Our style is moody and romantic, emotional yet personal and raw. We’re able to capture these personal, raw moments because we take the time to get to know all of our clients. By the time your wedding day arrives, a comfort level exists that allows you to be relaxed and in the moment. Which is exactly how we want to capture you.
So whether your occasion is on a beach, at a ballroom or your parents backyard, we'd love to be there to tell your story.
We are dedicated to giving you images that will celebrate your life and inspire you.
Vanessa and Andrew’s Story
"The day of our wedding we wanted to go around Philadelphia and take some pictures with our wedding party since that's where we my husband and I first met and it's very meaningful to us. Ralph suggested a couple of nice spots around the city and now we have so many gorgeous city images, just like this one! He helped us to create that city wedding theme just like we dreamed of. It was so much fun going around the city and taking those pictures. Ralph and his team are so delightful, they were like part of the family!

This is for all of the brides who have a sweet spot in their heart for their dad. I have to admit that Daddy/Daughter first looks make me a little emotional thinking about my daughter!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
For a lot of dads, this is when everything feels real and it hits him... “My baby girl is getting MARRIED!” These are precious moments to photograph and I highly encourage any daddy’s girl to make time in their timeline for this moment. It doesn’t take long at all! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The hardest part is making sure dad shows up on time! If dad doesn’t show up on time, the whole timeline can get thrown off, or we’ll have to skip the daddy/daughter first look. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Another sweet idea I’ve seen is having the father of the bride escort the bride to her first look:) Either way is beautiful! ...
I love shooting at Union Trust, it's one of my favorite venues!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
"With grand arched windows overlooking the Historic District of Philadelphia, Union Trust will captivate the most discerning guests. With its soaring sixty-five foot illuminated engraved ceilings, architecturally accented walls, multiple private rooms, and a breathtaking wraparound mezzanine overlooking the whole site; Union Trust offers an exceptional blend of the old, regal Philadelphia but infused with a new vibrant pulse. In Finley Catering’s constant pursuit of exquisite cuisines and top-notch professionalism, we feel that Union Trust is an ideal addition to make our center city endeavors a perfect trio." ...
If we’re being honest, all of the wedding day images are important, but the real favorites are almost always from my time with the Bride and Groom. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
These romantic portraits of just the two of you will be the images that you frame beside your bed or over your mantle, and they will also be the images that will fill your album for generations to enjoy. These images are always my favorite not only because of their beauty, but because this is such a sweet portion of the day. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
For this brief moment in time, you will be alone with your groom on your wedding day. You will have a chance to love on each other and really connect before the craziness begins. Romantic portraits are normally done before the ceremony (after the “First Look”) and then I LOVE shooting a few “just married” portraits after the ceremony as well! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
This is when the light is low and golden. It’s such a romantic time for bride and groom portraits! If you’re not interested in a first look, we will make sure to include a lot of time after the ceremony to capture these moments. ...
One of my top wedding venues in Philadelphia is: Waterworks!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
"Its combination of gracious Neoclassical architecture on the outside and then-revolutionary technology within once drew visitors from around the world—including Charles Dickens, who praised its “pleasant design.” Today, the Water Works provides rich contemporary luxury in its lavish interior spaces in one of the city’s most picturesque setting, with columned walkways, a vintage gazebo, the Art Museum perched dramatically above and Boathouse Row stretched out along the Schuylkill River just beyond. The iconic views, classically elegant structures, and landscaped grounds and gardens all around make adding an outdoor ceremony to your reception a natural choice." ...
You’ve spent months planning your dream wedding in the perfect outdoor setting. But what if the forecast calls for rain on your big day?⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Rainy weather doesn’t mean your wedding is ruined. There are plenty of ways to prepare for the possibility of a little drizzle, and the presence of rain can actually lend your wedding—and your photos—an even more romantic vibe. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
So whether you’re planning well ahead of time or scrambling at the last minute, check out these tips for dealing with rain on your wedding day over on the blog! Link in bio! ...
The decor at Tendenza reminds me of some of my favorite restaurants in NYC. Very stylish, chic and intimate. We don't have a lot of modern/industrial venues in Philadelphia which is why I enjoy shooting here!
My favorite spots at the venue for pictures:
The courtyard outside of Tendenza and the front facade are great spots for photos. The bar is also a great background for images as well. ...
How To Plan The Honeymoon Of Your Dreams ✨⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Another favorite venue of mine is the Crystal Tea Room!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I love the layout of the Tea Room, it's so ideal for a wedding reception. The atrium, bar, bridal suite and dessert rooms all provide a perfect place outside the ballroom for guests to spend time during the night. And the ballroom makes for a beautiful ceremony location as well! ...
I’m sick of the snow at this point but if you wanna take some pics with your boo, hit me up and I’ll throw some boots on! ⛄️

The ceremony is the focus of your wedding day, but the wedding reception is the fun part. Finally, after all your planning, you can relax, eat, drink, and dance the night away!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Should you do it?⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I have a lot of clients that struggle with the idea of doing a First Look on their wedding day. And I get it!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
If you're struggling with it, it's probably because you love the idea of your groom seeing you for the first time walking down the aisle like you've seen so many times in movies or read in books. He sees you and your beauty, gets emotional...what's not to like!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Or maybe you think that by doing a first look, it won't make the moment you walk down the aisle special anymore.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
And it's not just the brides. I've had plenty of grooms that didn't want to see their bride until she was walking down the aisle as well!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Well, after photographing over 200 weddings, I'm here to say that if you're having reservations about doing a first look, DON'T!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

The love story of Christine and Anthony began with the most modern of gestures: swiping right on a smartphone and matching together on Bumble! They met in October of 2017 and spent their first date at Twisted Tail in Philadelphia. The pair really clicked and spent hours just talking, enjoying each other’s company.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Filled with another surprise, Anthony proposed to Christine on his birthday and planned a whole celebration dinner with each other’s families! How romantic! “It was perfect, and we even have it on video, which makes it even better!”
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Being lovestruck in the city, their compatibility soared with daily moments of laughter and affection. Congratulations to this beautiful Bumble success story couple! ...
One of my top venue location is the Cairnwood Estate !
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
"Reminiscent of a French chateau, Cairnwood’s distinguished architecture, flowering gardens, and expansive lawns provide a distinctive backdrop for a truly exceptional event. The estate provides a setting that departs from the ordinary with endless indoor and outdoor reception possibilities."

Bride’s, if you have never seen your man cry or get emotional, you can’t expect him to be overly emotional on your wedding day. Some guys just embrace their brides and never cry.... and that’s OK. Some guys show very little emotion when their bride is coming down the aisle and that’s ok too. Just enjoy this amazing day, and try not to put any expectations on him. If you take this advice to heart, I could potentially be saving you a lot of disappointment on your day. One thing I have noticed after shooting more than 200 weddings is that the stress and nerves that come with a wedding day can sometimes make it hard for some grooms to truly express their emotions. It’s just a lot to take in all at once. This is a great reason to share a first look and also a great reason to give some grace to your guy! Sure, you deserve to feel beautiful, but my encouragement to you is to enjoy this time together, no matter what his reaction is like! ...
An outdoor wedding ceremony is beautiful, especially if you have a scenic natural background, but they can also be challenging to plan, especially if the weather in your venue location is unpredictable. Whether it’s sweltering heat in the summer months or an unexpected thunderstorm, it’s important to be well prepared for every possibility if you plan to say “I do” in the great outdoors.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Another simple tip for your wedding/engagement session:⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
A great setup is to hug your partner from behind!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
This sweet and intimate pose creates a sense of closeness and affection, resulting in a romantic image. It's also a great starting point for natural, candid moments that will occur as we help you with some direction. ...
"Throughout our Sophomore year, Andrew was my go to: lunch, dinner, telling him about my personal drama; I went to him for everything. Because of that, I blocked any feelings I may have had for him. Fast forward to the summer after our Sophomore year: I quickly realized Andrew was the one for me. That summer, I went to Asia for two weeks, alone, with really no cell service or access to WiFi. As soon as I got service, the beginning of my second week there, one of the first text messages I received was from Andrew, "making sure I was still alive." Come August, Andrew and I decided to take our friendship to the next level, and the rest is history."
Here are some of my favorites from their engagement session! ...

I didn't have to search far for answers to what my brides should be considering when searching for their wedding dresses. With over 25 years in the wedding industry, Cyndi Deal of Bridals by Cyndi in Turnersville, NJ was an easy choice to talk to.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
That last name is no coincidence, she's my sister and she knows what she's talking about!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
As a photographer who specializes in weddings, I felt like I knew a bit about wedding dresses. But I discovered that I really know very little after talking with Cyndi for a while! There's a lot for a newly engaged bride to know BEFORE she ventures out to shop for her dream dress.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I asked Cyndi to chat about the top 5 things she feels every bride should be considering before she goes to on the emotional roller coaster of finding the perfect dress. Head over to the blog to see what she had to say! Link in bio. ...
